This term in Year 1 we have been finding out about ‘Amazing Animals’.
We have looked at humans, their senses and the importance of their skeleton. We have learned about different categories of animals ie fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and insects, the features of each type of animal and whether they are herbivores, carnivores or omnivores and we have found out which continents of the world some can be found in. In addition we have explored the work of artists such as Henri Matisse and L S Lowry by recreating their style. We have enjoyed musical activities with Mr Clarke, developed gymnastics skills with Miss Foster and improved our games skills with Action Ants.
We have also been working very hard with our writing, making our handwriting neater and trying to remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in our sentences. In maths we have been busy developing our ability to add and subtract, recognising coins, telling the time and naming 2D and 3D shapes. We have also begun to do our Big Maths Beat That Challenge which the children are enjoying.
