This half term we have been exploring celebrations of all kinds!
We have celebrated Halloween, and even turned our role play area into a spooky house! We also read lots of different books abouts ghosts, ghouls, skeletons and witches, including 'Room on the Broom', by Julia Donaldson.
Whilst learning about the Hindu Festival of Diwali (also known as the 'Festival of Lights') we learned all about the story of Rama and Sita, created and decorated our very own Diwa lamps using clay, and used the beautiful rangoli patterns used during the festival to help us find out about symmetry.
The children in Class 3 joined the rest of the school in observing a one minute silence for Remembrance Day.
Our 'birthday' themed week was all about Henry, the Class 3 bear. We planned a 5th birthday celebration for him by writing birthday messages, creating cards and party hats, writing an invitation and of course having a party for our friend!
During our 'Winter' week, we discussed what happens to different forms of wildlife in the season, including how birds fly to warmer places and how some animals hibernate. We have also created lists of fantastic words associated with Winter.
