Autumn 2

Celebrations!

This half term we are learning about celebrations.

We have celebrated Halloween, and even turned our role play area into a spooky house! We also read lots of different spooky books including 'Room on the Broom', by Julia Donaldson.

We learned about 'Bonfire Night' and made some very creative fireworks paintings.

Whilst learning about the Hindu Festival of Diwali (also known as the 'Festival of Lights') we learned all about the story of Rama and Sita, created and decorated our very own Diwa lamps using clay, and used the beautiful rangoli patterns used during the festival to help us find out about symmetry.

The children in Class 1 joined the rest of the school in observing a one minute silence for Remembrance Day.

Our 'birthday' themed week was all about Bruce, the Class 1 bear. We planned a 5th birthday celebration for him by writing birthday messages, invitaions and decorating party hats. We loved making crispy cakes and sandwiches for his party.

During our 'Winter' week, we talked about the signs of Winter and discussed what happens to different forms of wildlife in the season.
